Rhythm and roll, rock and soul. Jas Patrick is a singer, songwriter and musician based in Nashville, TN who is becoming known for his unique, powerful voice as well as the broad musical influences that appear in his debut album and live performances.

Jas Patrick’s debut album, “Working on My Soul” is due to be released in December 10, 2009 through Tiny Lion Records. The album covers the grounds of rock, R&B, blues, jazz and folk.

Born in Houston, TX, Jas was exposed to music at a young age through his father, Jeff Peterson, who played steel guitar, lap steel and dobro in several Houston area bands.

At the age of four, Jas received his first drum set for his birthday. He immediately began teaching himself by playing along with the recordings of various bands. While in elementary school, Jas’ father began touring nationally with a major country act and the family moved to Nashville; settling in the Springfield area north of downtown.

At this time Jas became more influenced by country music and began learning to play guitar. He played with various bands in high school and the beginning of college. After his freshman year at Western Kentucky University, Jas spent the summer playing drums for the summer tour of an Atlantic recording artist. Though the job only lasted about a year, Jas was now certain that music would become his career.

For many years, Jas played drums and guitar with a variety of Nashville projects. He had moved away from country and was back to exploring a variety of styles from rock to R&B. Though he always considered singing his own songs, Jas never pursued this route until late 2005 when he began playing Nashville area writer’s nights. He became confident in his ability to sing his own material and decided to take a break from performing to concentrate on writing, recording and producing his debut album.

What Jas thought might be a six month project quickly grew to nearly three years. He worked evenings and weekends out of a home studio that he built with his father in a spare bedroom of his parent’s home. Though the process had many difficulties and frustrations, it allowed Jas the opportunity to take his time crafting the songs while refining his knowledge of the recording process. Jas not only wrote each song, but also wrote, played or sang nearly every part on his album. Jeff Peterson contributed steel guitar, lap steel and dobro and Jake Willemain provided most of the bass guitar tracks.

With the album complete, Jas went to work assembling a band to begin showcasing the work around Nashville and the surrounding areas. The band is now fully rehearsed and ready for shows and features:
